Hook Carpentry is run by Kevin Curtis.  Kevin holds a City & Guilds Advanced Craft Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery and can boast over thirty years' of carpentry experience.  He is passionate about his trade and prides himself on painstaking attention to detail.  Kevin can assist with all types of carpentry and joinery requirements, but he most enjoys specialising in bespoke fitted furniture.  

Kevin’s career journey

Kevin started as a Trainee Cabinet maker in 1979, working with a company who restored fine furniture.  After that arm of the business closed, Kevin decided to go to college (Basingstoke Technical College, as it was then) to study Carpentry and Joinery full-time.  He qualified in 1985 and started working for a small builder, doing the carpentry for projects like house extensions.

In 1987, Kevin took the plunge and went self-employed.  Initially, he did a lot of sub-contract work on extensions and loft conversions but, after a few years, he started picking up shop fitting work as well.

After 25 years working as a sub-contractor for other people, Kevin set up his own business in 2012 to specialise in carpentry and joinery (rather than building works).  Initially, trading as ‘All Types of Carpentry’, this became Hook Carpentry around 2017, as it still is today.

Offering a friendly and informal FREE estimate service, Kevin immediately puts you at ease.  From his extensive notes and detailed discussion, Kevin will create a unique design specific to your preferences.  His superb woodworking skills mean that he will hand craft and professionally install beautiful fitted furniture, storage solutions, staircases and more. 

Kevin keeps any disturbance to a minimum when working in your home.  He always uses dust-sheeting and clears up when complete.  

Hook Carpentry holds public liability insurance up to £2,000,000 to cover for any accidental damage done whilst on site.
